PINSON — Things will be busy at Pinson United Methodist Church on Sunday, Nov. 16.
Many from the community are coming together to collect and sort 500 boxes for Operation Christmas Child, an organization that delivers gift-filled boxes to children in orphanages, refugee camps and war-torn areas around the world.
The collecting and sorting begins at 3 p.m.
Suzanne Cantley said First Baptist Church Pinson is bringing 500 teddy bears, Pinson United Methodist Church is bringing 500 bags of candy, an individual woman has made 250 hair bows and Pinson Discount Drugs is donating 500 toothbrushes.
Cantley said children will be decorating cards for the boxes, elderly people will fold the boxes, a man will pass out bags of candy for the boxes and local restaurants will provide snacks for the party.
“People of all ages and denominations will be working as one,” Cantley said.
Cantley said volunteers are needed to help pack the boxes.
“Everyone has an important job,” she said.
Monetary donations are also needed to help with shipping costs, she said. There will be a donation box at the church.
Pinson United Methodist Church is located at 4507 Bud Holmes Road in Pinson.
