CLAY — Clay-Chalkville suffered its first loss of the Jeremy Monceaux era thanks to a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Hoover’s Dylan Smith sank the dagger as time expired to give the visitors a 58-57 win Monday night. That make gave Smith 21 points, which led the Bucs.
Hasan Abdullah, the Cougars’ senior point guard, led all scorers with 37 points. Senior Edward Leggett added 13 of his own.
Clay-Chalkville (3-1) held a 12-point advantage at the break, but was outscored 33-20 through the final two quarters.
