PINSON — Turkey Creek Nature Preserve in Pinson now has pocket guides, thanks to a local Girl Scouts group.
In the spring, the Girl Scouts of Troop 1010 visited the preserve to participate in one of its environmental education programs, which included water quality analysis and an exploration of its aquatic life.
While at Turkey Creek, all the native plant diversity inspired the girls to build a plant guide and plant scavenger hunt for Turkey Creek’s plant life.
Their guide, which was presented to the preserve in October and completed the troop’s requirements for their Take Action Project, will be used by the education programs as an “exciting and challenging new way for participants to get out and enjoy the nature beauty of Turkey Creek Nature Preserve,” said Preserve Manager Charles Yeager.
