TRUSSVILLE — A Trussville man died early Monday after he hanged himself in the Trussville City Jail, according to authorities.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Brian Keith Deramus, 40.
Deputy Coroner Phillip Russell said Argo police arrested Deramus on Sunday on a domestic violence charge. He was transported to the Trussville jail since the Argo Police Department contracts with the city for jail usage.
Deramus was booked into the jail at 2:49 a.m. Sunday, Russell said. He was last seen alive on a routine check at 1:21 a.m. Monday. He was found unresponsive at 2:13 a.m. Monday and pronounced dead at 2:27 a.m.
The suicide was recorded on surveillance cameras that are in the cells, said Trussville Police Department Capt. Jeff Bridges.
