The theme of the essay contest was “What is a good American citizen?” The group donated the book in honor of her and other students from Hewitt-Trussville who participated in the contest. The group plans to have another contest this spring with the potential of more money being awarded.
The book donated is “An American Life: Ronald Reagan,” an autobiography. The same book was also given to three other schools in the area who participated in the contest: Clay-Chalkville High School, Pinson Valley High School and Mountain View Baptist School.
