Pinson trash cans could include artwork

PINSON — The city of Pinson could promote cleanliness on its new trash cans.
The Pinson City Council last week discussed the possibility of adding an insignia and a couple words to its new trash cans.
In December, the city council accepted Advanced Disposal’s bid for trash collection in the city, including all alternates — recycling, small bulk waste, debris pickup and two carts.
Councilman Robbie Roberts said the trash cans could be part of the city’s “community branding.” He suggested a simple insignia on the side of the cans, with the words “Pinson” and “Pride” alongside it. The cans will be a dark maroon color, Mayor Hoyt Sanders said.
Roberts said he wanted the cans to emphasize that Pinson is “very environmentally friendly.”
Roberts and Councilman Joe Cochran will solicit ideas from various people, including the public and the Pinson Valley High School art department.
Sanders said Advanced Disposal will likely send notices to Pinson residents in February about the impending trash collection service.
