CLAY — Clay-Chalkville began the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back, as the Lady Cougars easily dispatched Carver-Birmingham 69-29 on Tuesday night.
The opening tip landed in the hands of Lady Cougars guard Raven Omar, who took the ball straight down the court and to the basket. Her layup gave Clay-Chalkville the lead just 10 seconds into the game, and the Lady Rams never came closer.
“Our game is running in transition,” Omar said. “We get our momentum that way. When we start out slow, we always get out of whack.”

Much like the game against Hewitt-Trussville, the Lady Cougars wreaked havoc on the defensive end. They created eight steals in the first quarter alone to jump out to a 23-6 start, and finished the game with 16 steals.
Three Lady Cougars scored in double figures on the night. Kristian Hudson led the way from the point guard spot with 17 points and four steals. Omar contributed 12 points after not scoring Monday night, and added a pair of rebounds, two assists, and four steals. T.J. Thomas put forth a great effort in the paint, scoring 11 points and pulling down nine rebounds.
The night focused on the seniors, as Hudson, Thomas, Daffany Lewis, and Brittney Wood were honored after the game as part of the Senior Night festivities.
Lewis scored all six of her points in the opening quarter, and finished the night with four rebounds and three steals. Wood knocked down a couple of 3-pointers in the game.
“We love our seniors. They are all a huge part of our program,” Omar said.
Journey Jones led the Lady Rams with 10 points. Paris Lee-Parker hit six free throws in the second half to finish with eight points.
The Lady Cougars return to action Friday night, as they return the trip to Hewitt-Trussville. Game time is 6 p.m.
