CLAY – After Clay-Chalkville senior point guard Kristian Hudson eclipsed 2,000 career points four days after Christmas in Bryant Bank Arena, she made it clear that she wanted to play basketball at the next level.
Not two months later, Hudson, who became the first girls player in school history to reach 1,000 points scored as a sophomore in 2012, got the gift she was waiting for. Louisiana Tech University extended the senior an offer Thursday.
The Lady Techsters are coached by Tyler Summitt, son of legendary former Tennessee head coach Pat Summitt.
That news came only hours before Hudson and the No. 6 Lady Cougars tip off against No. 4 Fort Payne in the Class 6A Northeast Regional semifinals at Jacksonville State University on Friday morning.
