It was reported that two black males matching the earlier description had attempted to break in to a vacant house. When they noticed they were being watched, they fled in a light blue Honda. Deputies found a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle on Lake Drive Northeast. They attempted to make a traffic stop, but the suspect refused to stop and a chase began.
A brief pursuit led to Five Mile Road near Eastview Drive where the driver lost control and wrecked. The suspects ran from the car. Deputies brought in a tracking dog and quickly captured one suspect just after 1:30 p.m. The second suspect was captured shortly afterward. No one was injured during the chase.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the car they were driving was taken in a robbery Feb. 14 in Center Point. The driver was also a suspect in that robbery.
On Feb. 27 sheriff’s detectives obtained warrants formally charging them both.
The juvenile is charged as such with second-degree burglary and third-degree burglary.
The adult is identified as 21-year-old Michael Daniels of Center Point. He is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary, first-degree theft of property, third-degree burglary, second-degree assault, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and attempting to elude. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
