HOOVER – Coming off a strong weekend, Pinson Valley found little success when it visited Spain Park for a doubleheader Monday afternoon.
Pinson Valley (7-7) was able to plate its lone run of the first game in the final inning with a Jacob Brown sacrifice fly following a double from Hunter Davidson. Raul Tafoya got the start, going 5 1/3 innings and allowing six hits and four runs, but only two were earned.
The finale went no better for the Indians, as they only scraped together two hits for the game, one each from Tafoya and Brett Jordan. The Jaguars were able to score seven of their runs in a big fourth inning. Destin Davidson struggled on the bump, only going two innings and surrendering four runs.
Spain Park’s Rodney Anderson gave Indian pitchers fits all day long, accumulating four hits and four RBIs.
Pinson Valley is back in action Tuesday, as the Indians will go to Springville to take on the Tigers in another double dip.
