TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville girls’ soccer team is off to a great start this season.
EurosportScoreboard.com, one of the main websites and tools associated with high school soccer, has released its initial polls of 2015, and the result is a good one for the Lady Huskies.
Hewitt-Trussville (12-2) comes in at No. 3 in the rankings, the program’s highest spot in school history.
“Being ranked so high is certainly a great sign of respect for our team and our accomplishments,” head coach Justin Pino said.
The website released the 10-team rankings Monday, and other teams included, in order, are: Auburn, Vestavia Hills, Hoover, Oak Mountain, Mountain Brook, Thompson, McGill-Toolen Catholic, Huntsville and Sparkman.
The Lady Huskies boast a record of 3-2 against other teams in the top 10, with wins over Hoover, Mountain Brook and McGill-Toolen Catholic. Their only two losses of the season have come against top-rated teams, falling to Thompson and Oak Mountain. They have a pair of matchups with Vestavia Hills and another with Mountain Brook remaining.
“There are a lot of games left to play,” Pino said. “I just hope we can continue to improve throughout the season and play to our maximum potential.”
Hewitt-Trussville is in action Tuesday, as it plays host to Gadsden City at 6 p.m.
