TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Council last week unanimously denied rezoning a portion of Happy Hollow Road from agricultural to single-family residential.
A second reading was held last week on the rezoning case of 7950 Happy Hollow Road.
Three Happy Hollow Road residents all spoke against the rezoning.
The application for rezoning was made by Joel and Wendy Hoomes. The plan was to develop a small, three-lot subdivision on the approximately 2.55 acres.
Trussville City Council President Alan Taylor said at the March 10 meeting he had a “hard time” seeing three lots being developed there.
Several residents spoke against the rezoning at the same meeting, citing issues such as flooding, not being able to fit three homes there, people speeding on Happy Hollow Road and traffic congestion.
The Trussville Planning and Zoning Board voted 3-2 in favor of recommending the rezoning to the city council. Four members of the board, however, weren’t at the meeting when the issue was taken up.
