BIRMINGHAM — UAB supporters are making it clear that they want football back at the university, which dropped the sport along with bowling and rifle in December.
WBRC’s Brianne Britzius and John Huddleston reported that the UAB Athletics Task Force met in the Green and Gold Room of Bartow Arena on Thursday night to update supporters on the progress of the fundraising in progress.
The subcommittee commissioned by the university is led by Justin Craft, a former UAB football player and current businessman in Birmingham. According to the television station, Craft is requesting that pledges are made for at least five years to allow the football program to be established once again.
Any financial pledges made towards the reinstatement of the football program will be returned if the sport is not brought back.
