BIRMINGHAM – Movoto.com, a real estate brokerage website, has compiled a list of the best places to live near Birmingham, and two area communities are noticed.
While looking into aspects of each Metro community like standard of living, amenities per capita and crime rate, Movoto found Trussville to be the fifth best Birmingham area location. Pinson came in tied with Fultondale at No. 9.
Here is the full ranking: No. 1 Mountain Brook, No. 2 Vestavia Hills, No. 3 Pelham, No. 4 Homewood, No. 5 Trussville, No. 6 Chelsea, No. T7 Gardendale, No. T7 Helena, No. T9 Fultondale, No. T9 Pinson.
Movoto used data from the U.S. Census, AreaVibes, and local business listings to compute its poll. The following five criteria separated the cities: Average commute time, amenities per capita, total crimes per 100k, standard of living and unemployment rate.
The math found Trussville to have a strong median household income of $84,514 and a reasonable median price of $1,165 for rent.
“Home buyers in this suburb will find a range of homes, from large single family houses on suburban streets, to homes on private wooded lots,” read the Movoto article. “Trussville’s bustling Main Street is full of dining and shopping for residents to enjoy. Grab a bite to eat at Café on Main or Golden Rule Barbecue, or shop local at specialty stores like Cahaba Cycles and the Trussville Antique Mall.”
Trussville was also praised for having a short path to downtown Birmingham while keeping a safe suburban atmosphere.
Pinson’s 441 total amenities and unemployment rate of 4.4 percent knotted it with Fultondale at No. 9.
“The quiet little suburb of Pinson rounds out our list of the best places to live near Birmingham,” wrote Movoto. “Home buyers on a budget will find affordable ranch style homes, while those prepared to splurge have their pick of large, will built single family homes with beautiful views or immaculate yards.”
