TRUSSVILLE – A 10-0 thumping of the Birmingham Blazers did it for the Husky 13U club team. The victory marked the end of the season with a USA Playmakers 14U Tournament championship last weekend at Phil English Field.
In pool play, Trussville defeated Jasper 9-2, Birmingham 4-2 and Husky Baseball Club Black 11-4. It continued the hot streak with a second win over its Trussville competition, this time by a 11-3 margin in the semifinals.
The 13U Huskies posted a perfect 5-0 tournament record to put a period on their season.
Trussville pitchers Michael Fowler, Kahlin Drake, Andy Poole, Tyler Mauldin and Owen Boren all recorded wins. Offensively, Mauldin and Kerrigan Edmondson led the way.
Boren tossed a no-hitter to secure the crown against the Blazers.
Mauldin ended his season with a stellar outing, going 10-for-13 from the dish. Edmondson also swung a strong bat, finishing the tournament 5-for-9.
Evan Kirk led the team with eight RBIs and Caden Kirk scored a team-high ten runs.
