Trussville Baseball continued to gather more hardware over the summer, as the 12U Huskies finished off an impressive season (44-7) with a Metro Championship. The Huskies won the Metro Championship on Father’s Day by defeating the Trussville Big Dawgs 14-2.
Head Coach Pat Smith’s Huskies’ run to the Metro title included wins against Oak Mountain and Homewood, before defeating the Big Dawgs in the championship game.
In the finale, the Huskies jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning and led 10-0 by the fourth. The Husky bats racked up 11 hits and received a dominating pitching performance from Aiden Rhodes.
Rhodes threw 4 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball, striking out four while allowing only three base runners.
The Huskies had two separate 14-game winning streaks during the year and held opponents to two runs or less in 24 games. This was the second consecutive year that Trussville Baseball’s 12U division has won the Metro Baseball Championship.
