TRUSSVILLE – A total of 107 golfers – a record number for the Trussville Chamber Golf Tournament – played in the eighth annual round at Limestone Springs Golf Course.
Claiming the top prize was team Alabama Power. Coming in second was Bryant Bank, followed by the Jack Sittre team in third.
Team Alabama Power was made up of Scott Walls, Kevin Grigsby, Bill Gilmer and Darryl McFarland. Second-place finishers Mark Dillard, Jef Freeman, Buddy Choat and Alan Taylor represented Bryant Bank. Playing for the Jack Sittre team was Sam Collins, Larry Rockhill, Cliff Padgett and Jack Sittre.
Senator Slade Blackwell served as the tournament’s title sponsor. A portion of the proceeds will help fund the chamber’s scholarship program.
This year’s scholarship recipients are Madison Snow and Brooke Taylor, both of whom were chamber ambassadors. Both have been awarded a $1,000 scholarship to the college of their choice. Also, Trevian Jenkins and Rebecca Stanley were awarded $1,000 scholarships that are renewable for up to four years, if they maintain a “B” average or better. All recipients are graduates of Hewitt-Trussville High School.
