BIRMINGHAM –On Saturday, Jefferson County deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle that had been driven into a wooded area between Groundhog Road and Lock 17 Road where they found a car registered to triple murder suspect Stephen Sean Hutcheson.
Inside the vehicle, deputies found a deceased male that they believe to be Hutcheson.
His Dodge Stratus had been reported missing when officers were searching for him following the murders of his wife and two children. Hutcheson was charged with capital murder for their deaths.
Officers said the man was dead from an apparent self inflicted gunshot.
The coroner’s office will make the positive identification.
According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, the car appears to have been in the location where it was discovered for several days.
Their bodies of Hutcheson’s wife and children were found June 28 in the home the family shared on Coleman Lake Road in McCalla. All three had been shot.
