CLAY – Starting with Pinson Valley on Sep. 18, Clay-Chalkville is only scheduled to host four opponents through the 2015 regular season football schedule.
Many of those soon-to-be visitors will know the challenge before they exit the bus and sink their spikes into the Cougar Stadium turf. They’ll understand that a win means beating the defending Class 6A state champions.
But for those who take the field unprepared, a big blue reminder awaits.

The scoreboard, which stands in one of the end zones in Cougar Stadium, has been updated to honor the Clay-Chalkville state championship team from a year ago.
“It feels great knowing that I can always come to Clay-Chalkville and see that great accomplishment displayed on the scoreboard,” said Class of 2015 cornerback Kam Prewitt, who is now a freshman for the University of Memphis’ football team. “It is going to always bring back wonderful memories.”
In 2014, the Cougars constructed a perfect 15-0 record, culminating on Dec. 6 in Auburn University’s Jordan-Hare Stadium with a 36-31 win over Saraland in the state finals.
Both of Clay-Chalkville’s state championship winning teams – 1999 and 2014 – are now displayed on the program’s scoreboard.
