CLAY — A former star on the gridiron is returning to his roots to put on a football camp.
Darrin Reaves, former Clay-Chalkville and UAB standout at running back, will host the first annual Darrin Reaves Elite Skills Academy at Clay-Chalkville High School on July 10-11. The camp will run from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. each day, consisting of fundamental training throughout the first day, followed by a competition day to showcase each camper’s skills.
Reaves is now a member of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. He will be joined by many past and present teammates, such as recent NFL draftees J.J. Nelson and Kennard Backman and fellow Panther and UAB alum Joe Webb.
Participants are required to be between the ages of seven and 18 years old. The camp will feature personal instruction for each major position during the two-day event. Meals will be provided each day.
Campers are encouraged to register prior to the event at EliteSkillsAcademy.eventbrite.com, but early registration is not required. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Friday at Cougar Stadium. The two day total for the camp is $30 for the first participant, and $15 for each additional camper that registers together. Proceeds will benefit causes supported by The Darrin Reaves Foundation.
