BIRMINGHAM –Christopher Anthony Murphy, 27, of Stone Mountain, Georgia was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine after an investigation tipped deputies to an expected delivery in Jefferson County.
“As part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine, narcotics investigators developed information that a significant amount of the drug would be delivered to a location in northern Jefferson County on July 17,” Randy Christian of the Jefferson County sheriff’s office said in a statement released Monday.
Christian said detectives learned that meth was on the way from an unknown location in Georgia.
A description of the vehicle was then given to patrol deputies who spotted the car just after 3:00 p.m. and conducted a traffic stop near Warrior. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of over two pounds of methamphetamine.
Christian said the drugs have an estimated street value of nearly $100,000.00.
Murphy remains in the Jefferson County jail with bond set at $1,000,000.
