Birmingham Police Department announced in a release they are investigating a murder that occurred Friday at an Exxon service station on Bessemer Road.
According to the release, officers from the West Precinct were dispatched to 1547 Bessemer Road on the report of a person being shot. The victim succumbed to the injury sustained by the gunfire and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Squad.
The preliminary investigation of the homicide reveals the victim and another male were inside of the business when a verbal altercation ensued. The verbal altercation continued out into the parking lot before turning into a physical altercation. The physical altercation turned deadly when gunfire erupted; consequently the victim was struck in the upper torso.
The victim has been identified at 47-year-old Keith Robinson, of Birmingham.
