News reporter and cameraman shot, killed on the air

MONETA, Va. –WDBJ7 is reporting that two of the station’s employees, a news reporter and a cameraman, were gunned down while on the air Wednesday morning. The employees were identified as reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27. Both victims lived in the local area.

The incident took place around 6:45 a.m. Eastern time at Bridgewater Plaza on Smith Mountain Lake.

Police are searching for the suspect who was caught on camera as Ward fell to the ground after being shot.

Virginia governor “Terry” McAuliffe has stated that the suspected shooter is a disgruntled employee and that police are currently searching for the suspect.
