BIRMINGHAM — A pair of suspects are in police custody today after allegedly robbing a convenience store, according to the Jefferson County sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded to a robbery call just after 2 a.m. Thursday morning at the 2200 block of Center Point Parkway. According to a release, a black male entered a convenience store and demanded money. Once he had the money, he fled the scene. A description of the individuals was broadcast to police at that time.
A deputy spotted a car speeding near the incident and made a traffic stop. The occupants matched the description of the robbery suspects, and were subsequently positively identified by the witness the release said.
The passenger, identified as Torsean Darnell Washington, 19, of Center Point, was taken into custody and charged with first degree robbery. He remains in the Jefferson County jail with bond set at $60,000,according to the release. The vehicle driver, Roberto Bakos, 22, of Birmingham, was also arrested and charged with first degree robbery, along with attempting to elude. He remains in the Jefferson County jail with bonds set at $65,000.
