CENTER POINT — A domestic disturbance call on Sept. 8 turned into the arrest of Erick Perez, 35, of Birmingham.
Deputies knocked on the door of a home in the 100 block of Colony Square Dr. around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night, and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the home, according to the sheriff’s office.
Once inside the apartment, the release read, deputies observed a cloud of smoke inside the living area, along with marijuana residue and a digital scale.
Also inside the home were two children, a 1-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy.
Perez told deputies the marijuana and scale belonged to him, and he was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of chemical endangerment of a child. He posted $7500.00 bond and was released, according to the sheriff’s office.
The case has been forwarded to the Department of Human Resources for investigation. Perez and his girlfriend are the parents of the children.
