Trussville Tribune writers Erik Harris, Chris Yow and Kyle Parmley will be awarding Players of the Week in each high school football matchup of the 2015 season. Players or position groups will be awarded based on more than just statistics. The awarded player(s) will also be evaluated based on the timeliness of their performance. Hewitt-Trussville 28, Spain Park 31.
Although it came in a loosing effort, Hewitt-Trussville speedster Noah Igbonoghene continued to build on his breakout season. The junior track star put his wheels to use against region foe Spain Park, plucking three receptions that went for 87 yards and a score. Quarterback Zac Thomas gave Igbonoghene an opportunity in one-on-one coverage and he answered with a 19-yard pitch and catch for six second quarter points. Igbonoghene is awarded by Chris Yow.

Clay-Chalkville 45, Pinson Valley 10.
Behind a four-touchdown performance from quarterback Ty Pigrome, No. 1 Clay-Chalkville made a 2-0 Class 6A, Region 6 start look easy on Friday night. Pigrome got the night started with an 80-yard touchdown strike to T.J. Simmons on the first snap of the game. The dual-threat weapon lived up to his billing with an 8-of-11 outing for 245 yards and three scores. He also entered the end zone in the second quarter when he bounced off left tackle for an eight-yard scamper. Pigrome finished his first Player of the Week performance with 69 yards on five rushes and the score. He is awarded by Erik Harris.

Pinson Valley 10, Clay-Chalkville 45.
On a night that failed to excite many Pinson Valley fans, kicker Saul Rios served as one of the few bright spots for the Indians. The veteran specialist brought experience and poise into a hostile Cougar Stadium on Friday night, kicking well on a 27-yard attempt from the left hash. That effort came late in the opening quarter and cut into Clay-Chalkville’s 14-0 lead. Rios also delivered on his only extra point opportunity of the contest. He is awarded by Erik Harris.
