TRUSSVILLE – Thursday night was key for the Hewitt-Trussville volleyball team. A win over Class 7A, Area 6 opponent Spain Park would’ve improved their seeding for the upcoming area tournament, and placed them on the opposite side of the bracket as No. 1 Mountain Brook (41-5).

That’s not how it happened. Instead, the Huskies fell in the area finale 3-0 at Spain Park. The loss finalizes Hewitt-Trussville’s regular season area schedule, and places them fourth in the final standings, which means they will have to beat the top-ranked Spartans in the first round of the area tournament.
The Huskies do have time to regroup before the tournament arrives on Oct. 19 at Mountain Brook High School. It starts today and tomorrow as they compete in Homewood’s Blalock Tournament.
Rhianna Tyldesley will enter the tournament fresh off a 12-kill performance against Spain Park. She also recorded two blocks and five digs.
Meagan Edwards brought a strong overall performance with 16 assists, ten digs and a block. Katie Edwards led the team with 14 digs.
