BIRMINGHAM — The Cahaba River Society is hosting their annual Cahaba River Fry-Down Sunday, Oct. 11, at Railroad Park in downtown Birmingham. The event will begin at 12 noon and go until 4 p.m. according to a release from event organizers.
The event moved from Trussville this year, but the competition will be just as intense.
Amatuer catfish fryers will compete just as any food competition with local chefs preparing catfish with their choice of fixings and served to a panel of judges. Fest-goers will also have the opportunity to sample the food and vote for a crowd favorite.
The Fry-Down will feature live music and a festival-like atmosphere with fun for the entire family.
Funds raised at this year’s event will allow the Cahaba River Society to continue its mission to restore and protect Alabama’s longest remaining stretch of free-flowing river.
Admission is a donation of $20, but children ages 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
