Some high school football teams from around the state aren’t sure what waits two weeks ahead, but both Clay-Chalkville and Pinson Valley know exactly what they’re doing on the night of Nov. 6.
The top-ranked Cougars secured the Class 6A, Region 6 championship last week with a 52-27 win over No. 10 Gardendale. That win earned them the top seed for the fourth straight season and set the stage for Region 8’s fourth seed (Cullman) to visit Cougar Stadium on the first Friday in November.
The Bearcats (6-3) have lost two of the last three, including a 43-3 defeat to Muscle Shoals last week. They hope to get back on track at Russellville this Friday in the last regular season game of the season.
Pinson Valley downed Shades Valley last week 35-21 to cement themselves as the three seed coming out of Region 6. The Indians will visit an upward-trending Austin team coming out of Region 8.
Austin (6-3) is 4-0 since starting the season 2-3. The Black Bears, fresh off blowout victories over Athens and Hartselle, will visit Class 7A No. 1 Bob Jones for the final regular season game of the year.
