Pack your sandals for a fun food festival way down south. Gulf Shores’ distinguished beach-chic restaurant, The Hangout, presents a coastal spread complete with celebrity chefs, live music, cooking demonstrations, craft brews and a few of Birmingham’s own notable culinary and brewery mavens.
Beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, the Craft Brew Festival kicks off with over 60 beers to sample from national and regional breweries and a concert by Black Jacket Symphony performing Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Birmingham’s Good People Brewing Co., Cahaba Brewing Co. and Avondale Brewing Co. will all have beer to sample.
Saturday, Nov. 7, sample oysters prepared by more than 60 chefs and restaurants from across the country. The North American Oyster Showcase will spotlight over 30 North American oyster growers, a new addition to the Oyster Weekend format. At 1 p.m., Birmingham chef and Next Food Network Star finalist Martie Duncan will present a chef demonstration with Jim Smith from the Alabama Governor’s Mansion. Shortly after, Marc Murphy from Food Network’s Chopped takes the stage with Anne Burrell and Jason Roberts following closely behind.
