TRUSSVILLE – Hewitt-Trussville High school will host some football games on Thursday morning. The reward for winning is significant.
For the second consecutive year, the Huskies will compete in the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Unified Flag Football (Special Olympic) event. Hewitt-Trussville, Northridge, Lee County and Lawrence County high schools are scheduled to compete on Thursday at Hewitt-Trussville Stadium. Games will be played at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. There will also be a consolation game at 1 p.m.
Those contests will decide who marches on to the Nov. 12 game in Bryant-Denny Stadium prior to the beginning of the high school football Super 7. The Huskies lost to Lawrence County last season in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Following the AHSAA’s partnership with the Alabama Special Olympics, that was the state’s first such game.
