TRUSSVILLE — A string of car break-ins occurred overnight Monday into the early morning hours of Tuesday left 13 vehicles ransacked. Trussville Police Captain Jeff Bridges said all the vehicles burglarized left their doors unlocked.
The incidents occurred in a close proximity to one another, including Barkwood Trace, Azalea Trace, Trace Way Circle, Promenade Drive and Glen Cross Drive.
One vehicle, a Nissan truck, had keys inside and the truck was stolen. Bridges said he believed the car was recovered Wednesday by Bessemer Police. According to Bridges, two juveniles on the scene where the truck was recovered — flipped and possibly totaled — are being questioned by Trussville police today. Attempts to confirm the information with Bessemer police have been unsuccessful.
Making noise was not on the agenda for the burglars as no windows were broken, and car doors were left barely closed.
“We do this every year around Christmas,” Bridges said. “And there’s more to come as long as people leave their car doors open. They’re more likely to get to the ones on the street than those in the drive way, but they’ll get to those too.”
Bridges advises all citizens to not only lock the car doors, but also leave nothing of value inside vehicles.
Items stolen from vehicles during this stretch range from bow and arrows to “Beats” headphones and a .45-caliber gun.
