BIRMINGHAM — Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a blood trail leading to an apartment in the 1800 block of Martinique Drive in Center Point on Nov. 10. A significant amount of blood was found on the sidewalk leading to an apartment.
Deputies knocked on the door, but did not get an answer. With the help of the apartment manager they entered the apartment, and once inside the officers discovered more blood and evidence of a struggle. No one was found inside the residence. Deputies checked local hospitals and found the resident of the apartment at UAB Hospital suffering from stab wounds.
Detectives interviewed the victim at the hospital. The investigation indicated the victim’s boyfriend dropped by the apartment and found him with another man. An argument ensued, and the victim was stabbed in the leg by his boyfriend. The boyfriend then fled the apartment according to the report.
The victim was transported the St. Vincent’s Hospital and then transported to UAB with serious injuries.
