TRUSSVILLE – Tribune area basketball teams went 3-1 in the opening round of the Bryant Bank Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday at Hewitt-Trussville High School.
The hosts won on both the girls’ and boys’ side to advance on to the winners bracket. Hewitt-Trussville dominated the girls’ game, 53-25, over Pelham before securing a 65-32 win over Fayette County in boys action.
Clay-Chalkville also shifted to the winner’s side of the boys’ bracket with a 42-38 win over Hueytown. Jalen Jordan and M.J. Embree led the cougar offense with double-digit scoring efforts.
The Pinson Valley boys came up short, 50-31, against Briarwood. They will now face Fayette County in the losers bracket on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
Clay-Chalkville is scheduled to face Oak Mountain on Monday at 5 p.m. and the Huskies will play Briarwood Christian that evening at 6:30.
In girls action, Hewitt-Trussville is set to face Briarwood Christian in the winners bracket on Monday night at 5.
