MARGARET — A new charter of the community service organization the Lions Club was formed in Margaret this month when 25 men and women celebrated the charter night of the Margaret Lions Club at Margaret Elementary School.
During the ceremonies, Lions Clubs International Director Jerome Thompson presented the members of the new club with their official charter. Members of the Moody Lions Club, who sponsored the formation of the Margaret Lions Club, were also in attendance to congratulate members of the new club.
“I am proud to welcome these men and women into Lions. The city of Margaret will be proud to have such a fine group serving their community,” District Governor George Head noted.
The Margaret Lions Club has scheduled the mobile van from Alabama Lions Sight to be at the school on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, to provide vision screening for all third & fifth grade students.
The Margaret Lions Club will meet on the second & fourth Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Margaret Elementary School. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
