CLAY – The accomplishments continue rolling in for Clay-Chalkville senior quarterback Ty Pigrome.
The righty will take the field in Bryant-Denny Stadium tomorrow in an attempt to improve his overall record to 30-0 as the Cougars starting signal caller. He will battle No. 2 Spanish Fort as the newly awarded Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year.
“It feels good because it’s something I woke up to. I didn’t even know that I won it until my coach called and told me,” said Pigrome.
Pigrome, who has thrown for 2,866 yards, 41 touchdowns and only four interceptions as a senior, holds scholarship offers from New Mexico, Purdue and Missouri among several others.
“It starts with all of my skill players and my line,” said Pigrome. “It’s just a team effort. (Defenses) can’t just worry about one key player, (they) have to worry about the whole team.”
On the other side, Tyler Johnson hopes to lead the Toros to a 35-0 record under his watch as starting quarterback. The UAB pledge has led Spanish Fort to a 14-0 record this season after recovering from a knee injury suffered in 2014.
