WASHINGTON D.C. –After recent terrorists attacks in Paris, France and San Bernardino, Calif., President Obama has decided to address the nation from the Oval Office on Sunday night at 7 p.m. CST. You can watch a live stream of the speech here.
The topic of the address will be “Keeping the American people safe.” The president will outline the steps he is taking to accomplish that goal.
In a statement on the White House website, officials said the president will provide an update on the ongoing investigation into the tragic attack in San Bernardino. He will also discuss the broader threat of terrorism — including the nature of the threat, how it has evolved, and how he plans will defeat it.
The president plans to reiterate his firm conviction that ISIL will be destroyed and that the United States must draw upon our values — our unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and freedom — to prevail over terrorist groups that use violence to advance a destructive ideology, the press release stated.
