TRUSSVILLE – The first Alabama Sports Writers Association basketball poll of the year has been released, and Hewitt-Trussville’s girls team is in the mix in Class 7A.
In the Class 6A girls poll, Clay-Chalkville (4-3) sits just outside the top-10 list.

Head coach Tonya Hunter has led the Huskies to an 8-3 overall record through the early days of the season. Her team’s only three losses have come against 7A No. 1 Hazel Green, 7A No. 4 Buckhorn and 6A No. 3 Lee-Huntsville.
Hewitt-Trussville is the only Area 6 team listed in the opening poll. The Huskies will battle Vestavia Hills, Spain Park and Mountain Brook in area play this season.
