JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 26-year-old woman won’t face charges after she fatally shot her abductor last month. According to Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies, the shooting death of Jeremy Arnold Ford, 25, of Birmingham was justified.
Just before 6 p.m. on Nov. 3, Adamsville police requested the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office respond to an apartment in the 2800 block of Pebble Creek Parkway in Forestdale to attempt to locate the woman, who was reported abducted in their jurisdiction earlier that day.
Deputies arrived and located the woman in the parking lot. They also located an adult male in the apartment dead on the scene with an apparent gunshot wound. The investigation revealed the woman was held at gunpoint and had been abducted, raped, driven around to different locations the suspect wanted to visit, then forced to drive back to the apartment by Ford.
Once inside the apartment, Ford again sexually assaulted the victim. The victim was able to gain control of Ford’s gun and shoot him. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives submitted their findings to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for review. It was determined the victim acted in self defense in relation to the shooting death of Ford.
