TRUSSVILLE – The Hewitt-Trussville Middle School basketball team went up to Tennessee for some holiday hoops and came home with some hardware.
Head coach Shane Clay and his eighth graders completed a 2-1 showing at the Sonic Shootout in Murfreesboro, Tenn. over the weekend to finish at No. 3. The Huskies defeated Mt. Juliet (Tenn.) in the third-place game. Hewitt-Trussville Middle School has constructed a 14-2 record through the top-half of the season.
In the tournament opener, Clay’s team downed Rockvale (Tenn.) before losing to Blackman (Tenn.) in the semi-finals.
The Huskies got a strong offensive outing from Cameron Glover, who was named to the all-tournament team. He led the team, averaging 12 points per game in three contests. Julian Collins also logged a strong showing as he averaged 9 points per outing.
The Hewitt-Trussville Middle School roster: Evan Kirk, Malachi Moore, Cameron Glover, Seth Shelnutt, Jacob Nardi, Jamyre Reese, Colin Glover, Kerrigan Edmonson, Julian Collins, Dre Falconer, Paul Dimler, Brandan Copeland, and Chase Patterson.
