JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday, Dec. 21 that arrest warrants have been carried out on 30-year-old Reginald Dedrick for three counts of attempted murder and one count of first degree robbery.
Dedrick was arrested by deputies and members of the United States Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force on Friday.
Just after 8 p.m. on Dec. 9, deputies responded to UAB West Hospital to investigate report of a shooting. Bessemer Police contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office because they received the initial shooting call and responded.
Once on scene they determined that the shooting occurred in an unincorporated area of the 500 block of 4th Avenue SW. Both victims were transported to the hospital before deputies arrived.
The initial investigation indicated the two male victims and a third man pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store in the 500 block of 4th Ave SW and confronted two additional men who walked up. Words were exchanged and a fight broke out. One of the men who walked up pulled out a handgun and began firing at the victims. Two people were struck. The suspect fled on foot and was not immediately located. Detectives learned the man who fired the shots was allegedly attempting to rob the victims. That person was identified as Dedrick according to deputies.
Dedrick remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $400,000.
