BIRMINGHAM – Three teens have been arrested in an armed robbery case, and have admitted to being part of as many as 13 robberies in Jefferson County. An 18-year-old girl, 17-year-old boy and another 14-year-old boy have been charged with the robbery of a Subway sandwich shop that occurred on last Tuesday.
Bessemer police captured the suspects following the alleged robbery of a restaurant in their jurisdiction. According to the sheriff’s office, the suspects admitted to the robberies during questioning. The spree consisted of robberies in the Bessemer, Birmingham, Fairfield, Midfield and parts of unincorporated Jefferson County.
Just before 10:30 pm on Dec. 15, deputies responded to a report of a robbery at a Subway sandwich shop in the 1100 block of Forestdale Blvd. It was reported that three suspects entered the shop and robbed the cashier and a customer of money and cell phones. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun, but the other two were not armed. After taking the items the suspects ran from the store and left the area in a small black car. No shots were fired and no one was injured during the robbery.
The investigation into is ongoing and additional charges are expected in those cases. Pierra Sondrale Jones, 18, of Birmingham, has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery for her role in the Forestdale case. She was booked into jail and released after her $60,000 bond was posted. Devonte Dionne Bailey, 17, of Bimingham, has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery for his role in the Forestdale case. He remains in the Jefferson County jail with no bond.
A 14 year old juvenile male also from Birmingham has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery for his role in the Forestdale case. His cases are being handled through juvenile court. His name is withheld because of his age.
