TRUSSVILLE – The Hewitt-Trussville boys and girls basketball teams will put a start to the most important part of the schedule today in Bryant Bank Arena.
The girls team, led by second-year head coach Tonya Hunter, will get the night tipped off at 6 p.m., when they face Class 7A, Area 6 opponent Spain Park. Hewitt-Trussville faces the same scenario in boys action, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Area 6 is made up of Hewitt-Trussville, Spain Park, Vestavia Hills and Mountain Brook.
Mountain Brook will also be visiting Vestavia Hills tonight to launch league play for the boys and girls teams.
Hewitt-Trussville boys interim head coach Marcus Thomas will lead his team into league play fresh off the high of a Albertville Shootout tournament championship. They will need to recreate some of their holiday magic against top-ranked Spain Park tonight.
Hunter and the girls look to learn from their holiday hangover. The Huskies, ranked No. 10 in the latest ASWA poll, can erase the memory of a 1-2 New Year’s Shootout with an area win tonight.
