HOOVER –Mike Gilotti, the 33-year-old husband, father of two, and war vet was gunned down outside of his Lake Cyrus home in Hoover on Tuesday morning as he left home to workout at a local gym.
Police believe Gilotti may have walked out and discovered men burglarizing vehicles, possibly his own vehicle. Authorities say their investigation leads them to believe their theory is correct and one of the burglars shot and killed the war vet.
Friday night, the Hoover police released photos from surveillance video at a Tuscaloosa business that they believe shows two of the suspects and they’re asking the public to help spread the photos and identify the suspects.
Police describe the suspects as follows:
- Unknown black male wearing a dark colored hoodie with “FLY” on the front. Smaller letters underneath the word fly are believed to say, “FIRST LOVE YOURSELF”. This individual is believed to be 19-years-old and attended Bessemer City High School. He is known to frequent the McCalla/Tannehill area, as well as Arlington Avenue and Roosevelt Park areas in Bessemer.
- Second unknown black male wearing a long-sleeved shirt with an unknown logo on the front and back. He was also wearing a baseball cap with an unknown logo on the front and side. This individual is a known associate of the suspect wearing the “FLY” shirt. He also frequents the Bessemer area.
