VESTAVIA HILLS–Two Birmingham men have been charged with attempted murder and receiving stolen property for their part in shooting at a Vestavia Hills police officer early Friday morning.
Patrick O’Neal Cobb, 20, is being held on a $300,000 bond, while Cameron DeShaun Ford, 17, Birmingham, has been charged as an adult and is being held on a $350,000 bond, according to information released for the Vestavia Hills police department.
Cobb was captured at the scene and Ford was taken into custody at his home in the Huffman area, according to WBRC.
Officers told WBRC that the suspects are being questioned by law enforcement in other jurisdictions to see they were involved in any other area crimes such as the murder of 16-year-old Clay-Chalkville High School student Raven White or the murder of 33-year-old Hoover father Mike Gilotti.
Authorities said it was still too early to determine whether or not the suspects were involved in those crimes.
“Whether it’s related to the Lake Cyrus incident in Hoover or not, there’s no way to know just yet,” Vestavia Hills Police Lt. Kevin York said. “Is it related to the incident in Panorama Terrace in Birmingham last night or yesterday afternoon, we don’t know.”
