BLOUNT COUNTY — A Remlap man has plead guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a child under 12 according to a Fox 6 report.
Donald Fred Stallings, 64, was arrested in February 2013, but his guilty plea did not come until jurors were seated and awaiting opening statements in the case. Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey said Stallings received no reduced charges or sentencing options.
Casey’s Facebook page said Stallings’ sentencing has been set for April 26. The charge carries a mandatory minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Additionally, Casey posted, when she told the victim of the plea, she said, “I feel like a champion.”
“This is a great outcome in this case. Justice is best served with perpetrators take responsibility for their actions and we do not have to put the child on the witness stand and put her through trauma of reliving the horror of the crime committed against her,” Casey said.
