TUSCALOOSA – Area boys and girls bowling teams will take part in the Alabama High School Athletics Association’s first-ever bowling playoffs today.
Boys and girls team from Hewitt-Trussville, Clay-Chalkville and Pinson Valley are scheduled to compete in the north regional tournament at Tuscaloosa’s Leland Lanes.
Regional play will run on Thursday and Friday. Each team will bowl three team games on Thursday to determine seeding for the knockout rounds on Friday.
Hewitt-Trussville’s boys (6-0) finished on top of Region 6, with Clay-Chalkville (4-2) coming in third and Pinson Valley (3-3) at fourth. The top four team from the region qualified for today’s postseason action.
On the girls side of Region 6, Pinson Valley (6-0) earned the crown. Hewitt-Trussville (5-1) took the second spot and the Cougars (3-3) squeaked in at No. 4 in the league.
The top four teams from the north regional will advance on to the state tournament, which will be held Jan. 28-29 at Oak Mountain Lanes.
