TRUSSVILLE –The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a registered sex offender that was last seen knocking on doors in the Margaret community in St. Clair County. The St. Clair sheriff and U.S. Marshal’s Task Force are also searching for the man, authorities told WIAT.
John Richard Dobbs was released from prison in 2015 after being convicted of raping and sodomizing a 13–year-old girl in St. Clair County. He has been charged with more than twelve crimes since that time in both Jefferson and St. Clair counties.
Dobbs is 5 feet 8 inches and weighs 140 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes.
Residents in Margaret said they recognized Dodds after seeing his mug shot on television, according to WTVM.
Dobbs last known address was 2100 block of 11th Avenue North in Birmingham. He has failed to register with the sheriff’s office as required by law.
According to WIAT, Dobbs is wanted in multiple jurisdictions on the following charges:
- Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (St. Clair County) – No Bond
- Failure to Appear Unlawful Possession of Marijuana (Jefferson County) – No Bond
- Failure to Appear Traffic Offense (Columbia PD) – $750 Bond
- Failure to Appear Fishing without a License (Shelby County) – $222 Bond
- Failure to Appear Traffic Offense (Leeds PD) – $1,000
- Failure to Appear Traffic Offense (Albertville PD) – No Bond
- Failure to Appear Traffic Offense (Jackson PD)
