TRUSSVILLE – Hewitt-Trussville Middle School’s Julian Collins saw to it that the eighth-grade Huskies finished the season on a high note. Collins, the Metro South Conference Tournament MVP, helped his team beat Pizitz, 50-38, in the tournament title game on Friday.

To get there, the Huskies blew past Homewood, 52-28, in the opening round of play before outlasting Bragg in the semifinals. It took overtime for Hewitt-Trussville Middle to finally ground the Rockets, 48-47.
Malachi Moore and Cameron Glover both played major roles in the championship push. The pair played their way on to the all-tournament team. Moore, Glover and Collins all averaged ten points per contest throughout the three-game tournament, as did Seth Shelnutt.
Collins did more than score. The eighth-grader also averaged eight boards and three blocks per game.
Head coach Shane Clay and the Huskies finished a stellar year with a 23-2 record. Clay coached his boys to a Trussville Tip-Off Tournament championship, a Metro South North Division championship, a Metro South Conference championship and a third-place finish at the Sonic Shootout in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
