JEFFERSON COUNTY–One man is dead and three others are hospitalized after an argument erupted and two men pulled guns and began shooting Saturday night. Authorities said the two suspects were still at large.
One 37-year-old victim was transported to the hospital where he later died. His name is being withheld pending notification of family. The other three victims remain hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Just before 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. deputies were called to a residence in the 200 block of Elm Street SW near Bessemer to investigate a report of a shooting.
Information at the scene indicated that several people were sitting outside in a vacant lot drinking before the shooting started, Chief Deputy Randy Christian said in a statement released by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The gunmen fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Deputies are continuing to search for the suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
